ACCOMMODATION / TERMS, ARTICLES 2, 9 & 12

A programme.
A place to live.

For internships, JJC-approved accommodation is required and billed separately.

Choose from JJC-managed accommodation or an approved partner. The charter allows exceptions only for a specific reason accepted by JJC. Rent, charges and support arrangements are detailed in the accommodation addendum.

A reservation payment equivalent to one month’s net rent becomes the security deposit when the keys are handed over. Refunds and deductions follow the applicable accommodation terms.

ACCOMMODATION ADDENDUM / 2026–2027

Your accommodation budget.

These accommodation rates concern internships and are additional to programme fees. JJC assigns accommodation according to availability and the order in which applications are completed; a particular residence is not guaranteed.

JJC-managed accommodation

  • Water, gas, electricity, internet and maintenance included within normal and reasonable use.
  • Sheets, blanket and pillow are not included. A one-off €75 bedding package may be charged.
  • Sen-Kita: a one-off agency fee of €170 per person may apply. JJC accommodation application fees are waived.
  • Monthly payments follow the JJC schedule. First and last months may be prorated only when expressly stated in the quotation, invoice or schedule: (monthly rent ÷ 30) × days of occupancy. Otherwise the scheduled amount applies.

Partner accommodation

  • A one-off €200 search and securing fee per participant is payable after accommodation allocation is confirmed.
  • External fees imposed by the partner, agency, guarantor or insurer are charged at actual cost after the participant is informed.
  • No automatic prorating. A full month or the entire reserved period may be due even for partial occupancy. All or part of the rent may be payable in one instalment through JJC.
  • Utilities, move-in and move-out fees, payment and cancellation rules depend on the partner’s contract.

PAYMENT MILESTONES / TERMS, ARTICLES 2 & 13

Prepare ahead, step by step.

  1. 01

    Confirm your arrangements

    The conditions require a complete application at least 12 weeks before the programme, with 16 weeks strongly recommended. The previous Plenty page states four months: confirm the applicable deadline with JJC.

  2. 02

    €800 net deposit

    Due on registration, plus any applicable transaction fees. This is a programme deposit, separate from the accommodation reservation payment; refunds depend on the cancellation conditions.

  3. 03

    Full payment before departure

    Full payment is due no later than one month before the programme begins. The conditions allow single or instalment payments, by bank transfer or online, according to the agreed schedule.

What about airport assistance?

Article 13 provides for a welcome at Kyoto Station. Optional accompaniment from the airport to the station is listed at €150; the same arrangement is available for the return journey. Confirm the scope and transport costs with JJC.

Can I cancel or change my plans?

The conditions distinguish programme cancellation, accommodation cancellation and early departure. Refer to articles 4–12 and ask for written clarification of the terms applying to your case before making a payment.

Is the visa guaranteed?

No. Article 2 states that submitting a complete application on time does not guarantee a Certificate of Eligibility (COE); the decision rests with the Japanese authorities.
